  Who can ask for proposals?

Only front-line educators can ask for proposal funding.  By front-line educators, we mean teachers, guidance counselors, coaches and other educators who are primarily assigned to serve the students in primary or secondary public educational institutions.

In addition to being front-line educators, the individual must be in good standing with the school, and must be responsible for at least some of the students who stand to benefit from the proposal.  Proposals submitted on behalf of another teacher’s students are not allowed.

  Which schools are serviced?

At present, we are servicing public primary and secondary schools within the Greater Manila Area.  In addition to this, private educational institutions that hold special classes for indigent students within the said area are also qualified to ask for proposals.  This is provided that the resources will be for the benefit of the indigent students.

  What is asked from teachers?

If a proposal gets funded, teachers are asked to:

1. Respond within 1 week to an email, text message or phone call asking “Do you still need these resources?”

2. Take photographs of the experience, lead the class in writing thank-you notes for the donors then compile and submit these on or before the committed feedback date.

  Why is feedback so important?

It is through feedback that donors get to see the direct impact of their donation.  When donors receive the photographs and thank-you letters, they are further encouraged to continue funding more proposals.  Simply put, colorful and vivid feedback submitted on time helps to get more resources to more students.

What kind of resources may be asked?

The general rule is that if the resources to be asked for will directly benefit students, then it is permitted.

Below is a list of materials commonly asked for:

            Textbooks
Student Supplies (notebook, pencil, pad paper, etc.)
Teaching Aids (flash cards, visual aids, etc.)
            Technological Instruments (scientific calculator, etc.)

Please note however that the items that may be requested are not limited to the listed materials.

As a policy, One + One does not give direct cash payments to teachers.  As part of its promise to donors, One + One will always purchase and deliver the needed resources to the school.

Who owns the materials received through One + One?

Resources donated through One + One are considered classroom property.  This means that use of the resources are controlled by the class teacher while he/she is working in the said school.  If he/she decides to leave the school, the resources have to remain behind.

When appropriate, resources such as books and school supplies, you may decide to give these to the students.  This would however be inappropriate to do for electronics and equipment.

How much can a proposal cost?

Proposals do not have a price cap.  However, a proposal that costs under P 20,000.00 is more likely to get funded.

Take into consideration that a proposal will be posted on the internet for a maximum period of 6 months.  So if a project costs over P 50,000.00 and is composed of several resources, you might consider breaking the proposal into 2-3 projects.  If this is done, students must be able to benefit even if only one project gets funded.

Finally, please try to find the least expensive option.  But if you must choose the seemingly expensive resource, make sure to explain the need to the donor.

Who decides if my proposal is funded?

Individual donors browse the proposals posted on the One + One website and decide which project they find most compelling.  One + One merely ensures that proposals are authentic when they are submitted, and purchases and delivers the resources once funding has been completed.

In cases where donors decide to contribute to a general fund, One + One is left to decide which proposals will be funded.  In such cases, One + One puts preference on proposals that is nearest funding completion.  In cases where there are multiple proposals equally nearing completion, One + One will choose to complete the proposal that is closest to its expiration date.

My proposal is partially funded. Can some of the materials be purchased?

No, One + One only makes purchases once a proposal has been completely funded and all its pledges have been actually received. If after 6 months your project remains partially funded, the donor may choose to allocate their contribution elsewhere.

How can I write a good proposal?

A good proposal contains all the pertinent information that will facilitate and speed up the screening process and will get your proposal posted on the web more quickly.   Once posted, a proposal that vividly depicts the experience that students will go through will be more compelling to donors.

  What makes a proposal compelling?

A compelling proposal clearly describes the situation at hand and explains how the resources will help students learn.  So in plain terms, speak from the heart and convey why you want this experience for your students.

What happens after I submit my proposal?

One + One will contact you by your preferred means of communication (email, text message, phone call) to confirm receipt of your proposal.  We will assign a proposal manager who will be the main person to coordinate with you.  Through the entire process, from proposal screening to resource delivery and ensuring feedback return, our proposal manager will be there to assist you.

Our proposal manager will then screen your proposal and may contact you in the process to clarify certain details, if necessary.  The screening process will usually take 2 weeks and we will again contact you to advise you of your proposal’s status (approved, rejected).

Approved proposals will then be assessed for project cost and posted on the web for a maximum of 6 months.

What happens when my proposal is fully funded?

Your proposal manager will contact you to ask if you still need the resources.  You must respond to him/her within 1 week of having been contacted to discuss the following:

  1. Confirmation that the resources are still needed.
  2. Set your feedback date – the date by which you will return the feedback package including your impact letter, photographs and student thank-you notes.

If we receive no response within the allotted grace period, we shall inform your donors and suggest the redistribution of funds to another project.

Only when you have replied will we purchase your resources and coordinate with you regarding delivery arrangements.
If the resources still have not reached you within a week of the set delivery date, you will be responsible for notifying your One + One proposal manager.

Together with delivered resources, you will be sent the necessary materials for completing the feedback package and a postage-paid envelope to send back the feedback materials for your donors.  One + One will then expect to receive your feedback package by the feedback date that you have previously set.  If we do not receive your feedback package, our proposal manager will start contacting you and your school to follow up.  Teachers who fail to return the feedback package on time will be banned from the One + One system.

What should I do if I haven’t received the resources for a funded proposal?

Check with the assigned contact person in your school if any deliveries were received on your behalf.  If it still cannot be found, contact your One + One proposal manager.  Make sure to include the following important details:

            Full Name
            Proposal Title
            School’s Name

Your proposal manager will then get back to you as soon as possible.
