MISSION
One + One aims to be a conduit between public schools and social philanthropists in facilitating the improvement of public education in the Philippines.

VISION
We will work towards a nation where public school teachers have the resources they need to provide quality education to their students.
We will serve as a means for social philanthropists to give to society.

arrowHow We Work

We encourage public school teachers to send in proposals requesting for materials that their students need. After evaluation of these proposals, we then post these on our website for potential donors to peruse.

A donor in turn, can look into the proposals/projects and have the complete freedom to choose which project he or she wants to fund either partially or fully.

After a project is fully funded, we do not send cash to the teachers. We negotiate the best prices from our vendors and will be the one who will purchase the materials requested. We then send these materials to the teachers.
In return, they are required to send us a feedback package containing (1) a teacher assessment of how the materials were put to good use, (2) thank you notes from the students (3) photos of the students using the materials.
These feedbacks are then compiled together with an expense report and sent to the donors.

How We Started

One + One started in impatience and with a desire for a solution. One night over coffee and desserts, Katrina Sy and Steph Lim were discussing about the plight of children and education in the Philippines. Having been members of several outreach programs during their high school and college years, the conversation lasted the whole night and delved into the problems, issues and challenges of Philippine education. But instead of complaining or passing the blame to others, they chose to find solutions and act upon these.

The two also talked about the other end of the spectrum – the potential donors. Having grown up in privileged families, both are constantly exposed to people who have enormous desires to help out but do not have a means to do so. What Kat and Steph came up with was an idea to form a foundation that would serve as a link between those who need help and those who are eager to give it but do not know how.

They soon shared the idea of putting up a foundation with their group of friends, and everyone was excited to be onboarded into the organization. So One+One was born…
